We were promised a fiver a week more in all our pockets and Pascal Donoghue duly delivered. I don’t think the Government will lose votes because of this budget and as a result, they will class this as a success. No one will have reason to be outraged, albeit trebling the commercial stamp duty rate won’t go down well with property purchasers, who are essentially paying for the additional fiver a week in your pocket. A former Fianna Fail Finance Minister would be proud of that one.
