The Employment and Investment Incentive Scheme is designed to encourage private investment in business particularly the SME sector. EII is a tax relief incentive scheme enabling eligible investors to avail of tax relief by deducting the cost of their qualifying investment from their total income for income tax purposes thus reducing their income tax liability.
WHY INVEST IN EII?
Your investment can be offset in full against your total income in the year of investment (2015) offering the investor tax relief of up to 40% of their investment. The tax relief is available on condition that the investor holds the investment for a minimum of 4 years, with 30% of the tax relief available in the year of investment (2015) and an additional 10% tax relief available at the end of the 4 year holding period (2019), provided that additional jobs were created or the investee company used the capital for research and development purposes.
The investment could suit you if:
• You are paying tax at the higher 40% rate in 2015 and will also be a higher rate tax payer in 2019 • You do not wish to access your funds for at least 4 years • You wish to make the minimum investment of €10,000 or up to the maximum investment of €150,000
