Introduction

Dear Reader

Welcome to the spring issue of our newsletter.

Quarter 1 2017 has passed by in a flash with significant developments in both national and international politics.

On a national level, the first months of 2017 have been dominated by speculation surrounding An Taoiseach Mr. Enda Kenny’s plan in relation to his departure from office. Unrest in the public sector continues to pose challenges, with Bus Eireann the latest company to be hit by striking unions.

January saw the official inauguration of Donald Trump in the United States. As expected, his early days in office have been anything but dull, regardless of your views.  His policy announcements and appointments have provided the media with a seemingly never ending supply of front page headlines.

Closer to home, this week saw Theresa May officially trigger article 50 with the signing and delivery of a “Brexit” letter to Donald Tusk and the E.U.  It is expected that full on exit negotiations will commence shortly which could take up to two years to conclude, regardless of the result. Meanwhile the Irish business community remain concerned and uncertain in relation to what Brexit will mean for them and their businesses.

With the pace of political and economic change showing little sign of slowing, it can be difficult to stay up to date with the latest developments and how they impact on your business.

As advisors, Quintas must anticipate the needs of our clients and provide them with the backup and support to allow them to manage their business on a daily basis. We continue to invest significant time and resources in upskilling our team. We do so to ensure that we continue to play at the top of our game when it comes to the latest developments in accountancy, tax, payroll, banking, insolvency or any of the other range of services that we provide to our clients.

We have some very interesting articles in this edition of our newsletter covering a broad range of topics.

I hope you find this newsletter of interest. If there is any area of your business that you would like to discuss in more detail then please feel free to contact me or any of my fellow Partners as we would only be too delighted to take the time to meet with you.
